Despite Prof Tony Blakely’s (debatable) claim that we can no longer eradicate COVID19 in Australia, I believe – based on my 24 months in pandemic planning simulations – WE CAN, simply by isolating & obeying the federal & state regulations on social distancing EVEN MORE than requested.

Do you want years of 100s of deaths a week until we have up to 250,000 dead including 20,000 young people & 50,000 middle-aged people? That’s what ‘flattening the curve’ achieves!

If you don’t want that then get everyone you know to distance MORE SYSTEMATICALLY than they have been, whether at work or home.

The PM & premiers & the pandemic experts have been doing a great job except they all failed us in this respect: they didn’t talk practical eradication.

Eradication is possible.

Let’s show them.

The next failure is there has been no talk in Australia of early release of vaccines upon safety trials. Why not release safe candidates continuously until we find the ones that work? It’s the efficacy that takes 12-18 months to prove. But early candidates have a good chance of being efficacious so give people the chance in bulk to take it on safety data alone in only a few months time.

Makes perfect sense.

BTW: The chart shows ANOTHER day straight of systematic reduction of % increases in Victoria. We can do it! The best evidence of the effect of social distancing. And none of this can yet show the effect of last week’s restrictions. So look for bigger drops here NEXT week!
