Due to the completely irresponsible initial UK, and continuing Dutch, policy of ‘going for herd immunity‘ these two nations have the worst COVID-19 death trajectory apart from Spain. The US has a scary deaths trajectory too.

In this logarithmic plot of deaths , each nation is synchronized to a day 0 of the 100th respective cases.

It’s likely that deaths is the best measure of the true size of the respective outbreaks although other factors including quality of health care and preparation and unknown regional predispositions obviously come into it.

In an update of the cases (see here), the US is now beating China at its corresponding point. Despite us in the west having months of forewarning. This is really terrible.

The Solution

The solution is to bunker down NOW, close borders & schools. Then we can reopen life in a month or so with closed borders. Then fight the spot fires until we get vaccines & drugs.

In good breaking news, it seems Victoria & NSW (Australia, where I am) will be closing schools on Tuesday.
